Parole for Families of Military Personnel

In 2013 the USCIS implemented the Parole in Place program for certain family members of military personnel.  Spouses, minor children and parents of military personnel can apply for parole in place to allow them to remain in the United States for certain periods of time and obtain a work authorization.

the military personnel can be active duty or reserve. It can active, retired or honorably discharged.

the main benefit of the parole in place is that it excuses an unlawful entry into the US and certain unlawful presence bars.  It allows the beneficiary to apply for legal permanent residence if he/she is the spouse, minor child or parent of a US citizen.

Individuals with some criminal record can also qualify.
