Waivers in the US for Spouses or Children of Permanent Residents – Starting August 29

It is finally here! USCIS expanded finally the categories of persons who can obtain a provisional waiver in the US before departing the country.   For some applicants for permanent residency/immigrant visas who entered without inspection or whose visa cannot be adjusted, and do not have any other grounds of inadmissibility, there is a waiver available in the US.  Children and spouses of US citizens and, now, of legal permanent residents may apply for a provisional waiver in the US before departing to their country for an appointment for immigrant visa purposes.  The benefit of this waiver application is the family unity.  Families no longer have to be separated for months and years at a time waiting for this waiver to be approved.  They can wait for the approval of the waiver in the US and, once approved, they can schedule their appointment in the consulate and hopefully be outside the US for only a short number of weeks.
